Accent Lab vs BritSpeech

Both apps do one thing: teach the standard British accent, Received Pronunciation, by listening to you and scoring how British you sound. The differences are in how they give feedback and what you pay.

What they have in common

Most accent apps teach American English. These two are among the few built only for Received Pronunciation, the standard British accent. Both ask you to read aloud, both use speech AI to judge your pronunciation, and both focus on the sounds that separate British from American English, like the silent R and the long bath vowel.

Where they differ

Feedback

BritSpeech grades a defined checklist of RP features, which makes it easy to see which British sounds you have and which you don't. Accent Lab scores whole sentences, including rhythm and intonation, and points at the specific words that gave you away, with a short tip for each.

Practice

BritSpeech is built around very short lessons on single words and a plan generated from your first reading. Accent Lab is built around a daily loop: listen to a native sentence, say it, fix the flagged sounds, with streaks and progress charts.

Price

On the UK App Store both are free to download with paid plans. Accent Lab's listed monthly plan is lower; BritSpeech requires a subscription to practise at all, with a 7-day trial for new subscribers.
